Gravity Adventure pioneered the Palmiet River and have been running it for over 15 years now. We are privileged to be a licensed operator on this awesome river. At medium and high water levels we offer thrilling white water rafting in two-person inflatable ‘crocodiles’ or four person rafts Palmiet River whitewater rafting is suitable for anyone aged 13 or older. You’ll need a reasonable level of fitness. We provide qualified guides with an intimate knowledge of the river and its environment and instruction on how to steer your craft.
The Palmiet River tumbles through the Fynbos covered mountains of the Kogelberg Nature Reserve, just outside Kleinmond, about an hour’s drive from Cape Town. This pristine natural environment forms the backdrop to our Palmiet River Experience. A friendly stream during the summer months, winter rainfall turns the river into an exciting white water adventure.
In the high water months (winter and spring), when we are rafting, we run the longer section, starting in the Kogelberg Nature Reserve. All boating and safety equipment is provided including PFDs (‘lifejackets’), and helmets. Wetsuits are also provided. Since this excursion takes place in a sensitive natural environment, group size is limited to 24 people per group day. We can run two rafting groups simultaneously. The trip price includes permits, all equipment, snacks, transport and APA qualified guides. It doesn’t include the Cape Nature Conservation fee (currently R40.00 per adult and payable on entry) – if you have a WildCard or are staying in the reserve, you don’t pay this.
Minimum group size is 6 guests for the activity to go ahead. If the amount is not reached, we will get in contact with you to reschedule.

Definitely the company to go for when planning a kayak trip, well organised and loads of fun! We had the pleasure of having Andrew the owner and guide taking us for a longer than standard trip and it was amazing. Will for sure make use of their services again.
We had an amazing time River Rafting at Palmiet. Everything from the booking to our drive home was great. Sonja was great to deal with and very responsive via email and phone. Phil, Aron and Mike were extremely well organised and made safety their first priority, not selling us short on fun and exhilaration. The oaks did really well. I will most definitely be back with some other mates.
Just a heads up to wear some comfortable shoes (that can get wet) for the 20 - 30min walk with your raft to the start.
Great company. Excellent trips and adventures in and around Cape Town. Sea kayaking, tubing, canyoning, coastering and rafting.
Best place to go for all your Rafting and Kayaking adventures! Ocean or whitewater river. Great guides who are passionate about it.
Excellent experience and well worth the money. The organisation is superb and with the river at low levels an alternative section of the river was covered. The catering and entertainment supplied by the guides was top notch. Kudos to Andrew, Coby and the rest of the team. We were a group of 23 (adults and children) and everyone enjoyed themselves! The equipment is good quality. Even on day 4 the drinks were still cold in the cool boxes supplied.
